No Rules Pine Wood Derby

One of the most memorable FHEs by far! It was every cub scout's dream come true...a no-rules, anything-goes Pine Wood Derby! Each group was given 2 cars to decorate. I admit my group slacked a little. When the event and lack of rules were first announced the boys sat up a little taller while their eyes became glazed over. You could tell they were in a whole other world of possibilities. This sparkle soon died out as the realization that many of them did not have time to create a true masterpiece sank in. No worries though the girls took over and basically created a painted block of lead car (the Incredibles car). We did not win...no! no! we did not even come close to winning... but we had ALOT of fun! I think the pictures speak for themselves..enjoy!

The winner was the red car that looked like a magnet! The lady bug car killed the competition until the semifinals when our lead car killed it as it flipped off the track. Ahh such sweet memories!

that looks awesome. I wanna steal it too! How did everyone carve their cars, was paint provided? were they given a week to make a car and then the next week race them?

yeah we got our cars the week before...as for carving it was left up to every group but it seems like everyone was able to find someone to help them out. the ward provided some paint but just about everyone went out and bought cooler stuff. one group competely abandoned the car and just used a potato. however, i dont suggest that since it was really slow but looked awesome.
